The local Shangaan believed that the spirits of their people who had been killed by crocodiles and hippo or whose bodies had been thrown into the river after tribal wars, were still wandering in it. They named the river "Saba" which means the river of fear from which the name of the town Sabie is derived
This well-balanced Stout would have provided ample courage to those who would need to cross the river. The smooth, creamy sustained head and delicious chocolate flavour may well have provided ample justification to avoid the trip altogether!
