Wheelbarrow Weiss

Gold was first discovered in the area in the town of Sabie in 1873. One of the first people who arrived in Sabie to make his fortune was Alec “Wheelbarrow” Patterson. He earned the nickname “Wheelbarrow” because, as legend has it, when he headed north out of Cape Town, the donkey he was loading with his meagre possessions kicked him. Patterson decided there and then to sell the donkey and move to a technologically-advanced machine, the wheelbarrow which he pushed the entire distance.


Wheelbarrow Weiss is fermented with a special Weiss ale yeast creating a typical wheat beer. Light in character, very effervescent and providing a kick as sharp as Patterson’s donkey! Enjoy this unique style with a slice of lemon.
